Go Green

IMG Bank of the West Classic has hired environmental consultants, FirmGreen, to help us minimize our impact and reduce our carbon footprint.  Greening the event starts with the basics- Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, but perhaps more importantly our goal is to create a collective consciousness to inspire individuals to make a change.  Because at the end of the weekend, when the matches are done and the trophies are awarded, the common bond between the athletes and the general audience is the environment.

While reducing the carbon footprint caused by each event including by not limited to:

  • Utilize when possible Alternative fuels for generators and Vehicles
  • Offset a percentage of the events carbon footprint into regional “Green” approved projects
  • Offer “Green Tickets” to the attendees to be part of the solution for regional “Green” approved projects
  • Comprehensive recycling program for both on-court competitions as well as off-court events
  • Food and beverage concessions will feature biodegradable utensils, cups, and plates
  • Encourage sponsors/contractors/subcontractors to comply with 48Straights “Green Initiative”
  • Providing ride/van share programs with special incentives (VIP parking for participates and great prizes)
  • Mass transit encouraged along with ride share programs to and from the pickup points (special prize give-aways for participants)
  • Green effect marketing plan features the Got Green Bracelet (GGB); audience is asked to fill out carbon card and take a eco pledge along with wearing the GGB to qualify for special discounts at participating “Green” local businesses.
  • Green Your Scene film festival is designed to educate and inspire individuals to minimize impact over the weekend and when they return home
  • Green Your Scene Alley (aka- Eco- Alley) provides an opportunity for event sponsors as well as local environmental groups to showcase products as well as environmental agendas
