Nadia Petrova Visits Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital

Petrova hospitalSTANFORD, Calif. (www.BankOfTheWestClassic.com) – Nadia Petrova, the fifth-seed at the 2009 Bank of the West Classic, visited the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University on Tuesday. Petrova is currently 10th in the WTA Tournament Singles rankings.

Petrova started in the Hospital’s Playroom where children can go to do arts and crafts projects, read or play with toys. She helped the kids with some art projects, autographed tennis balls and handed out stuffed Bank of the West bears. After that, she toured several patients’ rooms handing out bears and signing autographs.

Petrova won her opening round match yesterday over Bethanie Mattek-Sands and will face Maria Sharapova tomorrow afternoon. When asked to describe the best part about the Hospital visit, Petrova said, “I enjoy it. I like to meet the kids and have a little fun.”

The Bank of the West mascot bear also made the trip and joined the children and Petrova in the Playroom.

2011 Champions Crowned

The 2011 Bank of the West Classic came to a finish on Sunday, with Serena Williams defeating Marion Bartoli 7-5, 6-1 to claim her first Bank of the West Classic Singles title.  Victoria Azarenka and Maria Kirlikeno beat the American duo of Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond 6-1, 6-3 earning the 2011 Doubles title. Click here to read more.
